Extended Day

Yearly the extended day classes study an artist or type of art.  In the past they have learned about Monet, Matisse, Renoir, Degas and Georgia O'Keefe.  (Look around the halls for evidence of her influence in the square frames.)  They have also visited the Art Institute, Frank Lloyd Wright Studio and Terra Museum, 

This year we visited the Art Garden in Palos Heights and enjoyed hearing about the sculptures there from Maria DeCaprio-Sunta, a local artist.  The children will now try their hand with their own sculptures.

Mother's Tea

We're still savoring the sweet sounds of Mother's Tea.  The children and teachers worked for days to make the event special for everyone.  From the dances, songs, crafts, native dress and ethnic dishes, the celebration was most memorable.  We were also delighted to witness original dances of India performed by Christina in the East environment and Sarika in the West environment.  Thank you for sharing your delicious traditional dishes too.

Summer School

It's still not too late to sign up for a week or more of summer school fun or cooking classes.  Inquire in the office for availability and times.

Kindergarten Graduation DVD

A DVD of special memories set to music of your child's years at SWSM is available to order.  The cost -- $15 . . . the value -- priceless!  All orders are due by May 31st.

Make a Lasting Memory

Do you need a graduation gift for a special student?  Imprint your child's name in stone, and they can be forever remembered in their beloved school playground!  Call our office for a form to order one with your child's name and special message on it.  Submit orders by June 30th.

School Picnic

Toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners and families . . . please join us at the annual school picnic on Saturday, June 2nd, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Palos South Woods, Grove 2 (just west of SWSM).  Bring a dish to share and beverages for your family.  Hot dogs, condiments and eating utensils will be provided.  The picnic will not be rescheduled should there be inclement weather.

Parent Surveys

Thank you to all who took the time to fill out the parent surveys and for the positive feedback.  You can be assured your suggestions will be taken into consideration.

Reminders

• Summer camp fees are due by June 1st.
• When filling out your child's 2012/2013 Parent Emergency Information form, please note that both sides of the sheet need to be completed.  All paperwork is due by July 1st.  If possible, return forms before the end of the school year.
• The kindergarten library is closed for the remainder of the school year.  Please take a moment with your child to locate any signed out books and return them to our library.
