Your auction efforts have become a reality! Make sure the next time you’re on the playground to look at our awesome garden. The enclosed raised bed is a direct reflection of fundraising money and the desire to have an extension of our classrooms outside. Certainly funds well spent!
Before the bed was erected, the children planted seeds and tenderly cared for them in the inside greenhouse. They were most excited to watch the progress as the seedlings began sprouting and had lots of discussions about which grew faster. The highlight was actually planting all of the sprouts in the garden bed!
The garden bed will be a resource for more than just learning about how things grow but also caring for and growing the very food on their plate. Other lessons will be how water irrigation works and maybe even cooking and canning one day. We are very excited about the endless possibilities this garden brings, and we hope you are too.
A special thank you goes to John Erickson, Larry Yott, Michael Sabia, Ryan Pottinger and Parker Sterling for spending a Saturday morning putting all the pieces together and making sure no extra parts were left over!
