Happy September! I love the start of autumn — the changing colors, trips to the apple orchard, the never ending nature treasures to find (like acorns, pinecones, brilliant leaves) and mornings that require a fuzzy sweater. Are you ready for fall?
With the onset of autumn, our children have returned to school, some with great joy and others with trepidation. Our teachers have prepared each environment so they are free to work, as Maria Montessori believed, and develop themselves as unique individuals.
This year we welcome many returning students, loads of new ones, several sets of cousins, five pairs of twins and a dozen legacy children whose parents attended SWSM! We also welcome Monse Kadlec and her years of Montessori experience to assist in the Toddler classes and in East AM on Monday and Friday as well. It will be an exciting year for all.
Hope you’ve marked your calendar with these special September dates too:
- September 16th – Palos Park Parade. Gather at The Plush Horse at 10:30 a.m. and join your SWSM friends to march in the Palos Park Parade. Kids, wear your red Montessori t-shirts (new students will receive one at lineup) and bring your candy to toss. Stay for the fun activities afterwards at the Autumn in the Park Festival on the Village Green. Don’t let the parade pass you by!
- September 27th – Potluck Dinner, 6:00 p.m. at school. Bring your favorite dish to share and mingle with other parents and staff for this adult only gathering. What a great way to greet old friends and meet new ones!
Our 47th year is off to a wonderful start . . .
